The Story
This ring is enamelled on every visible surface, not just the front.
The face shows a pink lotus flower with detailed petal lines, painted by hand on a white enamel ground. A single uncut Polki diamond sits at the centre of the flower, Kundan set in a 24K gold foil bezel. Small green enamel leaves fill the spaces between the outer petals, and a navy blue enamel border frames the entire composition.
Turn the ring to the side and the edge is covered in sky blue enamel. Flip it over completely and the back reveals a green meenakari leaf pattern. This means you are wearing three distinct enamel compositions on a single piece. The adjustable gold band keeps the fit flexible, so no sizing is required before purchase.

📜 Full Description
The ring has a round, disc shaped face with a slightly domed profile. The front surface features a pink lotus flower with eight petals, each painted with fine radial lines to give texture and depth. The petals are set against a white enamel background. At the centre, a single uncut Polki diamond is set in a Kundan bezel of 24K gold foil. Between the outer petal tips, small green enamel leaves create a repeating border pattern. The outermost ring of the face is finished in deep navy blue enamel.
The side edge of the disc is covered in sky blue enamel, which means the ring shows colour even in profile view.
The back of the disc has a completely separate meenakari composition: a radial pattern of green enamel leaves on a gold ground. This is the partash tradition, where the hidden side of the piece receives its own decorative treatment.
The band is a double track adjustable gold band in 18K, designed to slide open for easy wear and to fit a range of finger sizes without professional resizing.
Every colour on this ring is glass enamel fused into hand engraved gold at temperatures above 850°C. Nothing is painted on top of the surface. The enamel is embedded in the metal itself.
Diamond certificate included. Hallmarking available on request.

🛠️ Craftsmanship
This ring requires work from at least three specialist artisans.
The chitera engraves the gold disc with grooves that define the lotus pattern, the leaf shapes, and the border sections. Each groove acts as a channel to hold the enamel in place.
The meenakar fills these channels with powdered coloured glass and fires the piece in a kiln. Each colour is fired separately because different colours melt at different temperatures. The greens and pinks are fired first at higher heat. The blue, which is the most heat sensitive colour, is fired last. A single ring like this may go through four or five firings.
The jadiya then sets the Polki diamond at the centre by pressing it into a bed of 24K gold foil. The foil is worked around the stone by hand to hold it without prongs or adhesive.
The fact that all three surfaces of this ring are enamelled (front, side, and back) means the meenakar has to fire and finish areas that most rings would leave as plain gold. This adds time and complexity to the production process.
👗 How to Style It
Statement piece: Wear it solo on your index or middle finger. The disc face is large enough to work as a standalone accent.
Stacked: Pair with plain gold bands on adjacent fingers. Avoid competing patterns on the same hand.
Indian occasion wear: Coordinates well with blue or pink meenakari earrings, bangles, or a necklace set. The blue edge ties it into blue dominant sets, while the pink face works equally well with pink or red outfits.
Western wear: The round shape and floral motif read as a bold cocktail ring. Works with solid colour blouses, dresses, or blazers.
💎 Stones & Enamel
Polki is a natural, uncut diamond used in its original flat crystalline form. It is not faceted or polished. The surface has a soft, translucent quality that differs from the sharp flash of a cut diamond.
Kundan is the traditional setting technique where the stone is held in place using thin sheets of 24K gold foil pressed around its edges by hand. No heat, prongs, or adhesive are used.
Meenakari is the Rajasthani tradition of fusing powdered glass into engraved gold using heat. The pink used in the lotus on this ring is a particularly difficult colour to achieve because it requires precise temperature control to avoid burning or muddying the shade. Each colour on this ring (pink, white, green, navy, sky blue) was applied and fired individually.

❓ FAQs
Q: What size does this ring fit?
A: The band is adjustable, so it fits a range of finger sizes without needing to be resized. You can slide it open to put it on and press it gently to tighten.
Q: Is the enamel on the back intentional?
A: Yes. The green leaf pattern on the back is a traditional technique called partash, where the reverse side of the piece receives its own meenakari composition. It is a deliberate feature, not decoration left over from manufacturing.
Q: Will the pink enamel fade or change colour over time?
A: No. The enamel is glass fused into gold at over 850°C. It does not fade, peel, or discolour under normal wear conditions. Avoid hard impacts, which can crack the enamel surface.
Q: How big is the disc on top?
A: The face is a round disc that functions as a statement ring. For exact measurements, contact us and we will provide the diameter in millimetres for this specific piece.
Q: Can I wear this ring every day?
A: Yes. The enamel is durable for regular use. Avoid wearing it during activities that could cause hard knocks, such as gym workouts or heavy housework, because impact can chip the glass enamel.
Q: Is the Polki diamond real?
A: Yes. It is a natural, uncut diamond in its original flat form. A diamond certificate of authenticity is included with the ring.
Q: Can I get this in a different flower colour?
A: Yes. Red, blue, and white lotus variations are available. The lead time for a custom colour order is 20 to 30 days.
Q: Does it come with a box or pouch?
A: Yes. The ring comes with a Surana branded storage pouch, a diamond certificate of authenticity, and a care instruction card.
